Mission
I am in a real hurry to restore and protect our planet’s wildernesses and wildlife, atmosphere, and oceans.
My five year mission is to reduce climate pollution going into the atmosphere, or take it out of the atmosphere, by 150 million tonnes by 2030.
I aim to bring speed and scale to the transition to a zero-emission economy by connecting finance and investment to the people and projects that can make it happen.

About
For three decades, Hon. James Shaw has worked all over the world with innovators, businesses, and political leaders to face the greatest challenges of our time.
James served in the New Zealand House of Representatives from 2014-2024 and as Climate Change Minister in Jacinda Ardern’s government from 2017-2023.
The architect of New Zealand’s net-zero framework, James has a track record of conceiving and implementing large-scale climate policies and programmes. He brokered bi-partisan support for the Zero Carbon Act, reforms to the NZ Emission Trading Scheme, and the world’s first Climate Related Financial Disclosures regime.
James was also Minister of Statistics and Associate Minister of Finance from 2017-2020 and Associate Minister for the Environment (Biodiversity) 2020-2023. He was Co-leader of the Green Party from 2015-2024 and in 2017 led the Greens into government for the first time ever.
Previously, James had a 15-year career as a consultant based in London, working with clients all over the world.

Work
James Shaw is an Operating Partner at Morrison, a leading global infrastructure investment management company. He is focused on next-generation decarbonisation investment initiatives, nature-based solutions and building Morrison’s market presence in South-East Asia.
He is on the Board of the World Wide Fund for Nature WWF New Zealand - part of the world's largest independent conservation organisation - and the Sustainability Advisory Panel of Air New Zealand. He is also advising and supporting several other climate and nature related start-ups and not-for-profit organisations.

James is also Director of Climate Opportunity and Global Development for Greenbridge Capital Management, a new investment management company focused on providing institutions with access to climate-positive investment options, where he also serves as Chair of the Impact Committee.
